WANT A REAL “ADVENTURE ON A COUCH?”
THEN START BUILDING A BUSINESS OF YOUR OWN,
ON THE INTERNET, FROM YOUR OWN HOME!
I don’t deal in hype so I will tell you up front that any business you develop on the Internet will take time and effort on your part to make a success. You will not get rich overnight, but with minimum expense, minimum experience, and minimum effort -- working a detailed plan consistently and promoting a quality selection of products, programs, and services with which you are affiliated -- you can succeed and begin to live your dreams.
If you are new to Internet Marketing, there are a ton of things to learn. That goes double if you are also new to computers other than, perhaps, to get your email. To help you gain the knowledge you need I will publish various articles in this section that will guide you towards success. While I will write many of the articles, others will be authored by recognized experts in their fields. All of them will be aimed at one thing: to help you succeed in your desire to develop a home-based business on the Internet.
This site, Adventures On A Couch, is a home-based business. It is designed to provide useful information and entertaining commentary about movies, audio recordings, books and stories in print and on the Web. In short, content that will, hopefully, attract readers (traffic) some of whom will find the Affiliate Displays & Links section of interest to them. The insertion of this section is what makes the site a home-based business, because my business is the promotion of the pro-ducts, programs and services with which I am affiliated. An affiliate is any person who is paid a commission on a purchase made by anyone from a link on the affiliate’s website, blog, traffic exchange splash page, etc., to a given product, program, or service.
In the coming issues of Adventures On A Couch I will use my site as a case history in the development of a home-based business. I will tell you why I decided to be an affiliate marketeer. I will tell you what has worked for me and what hasn’t. If you have a question about what I write, or about Internet marketing in general, please email me. If I don’t know the answer I will find an expert who does. The address is twamacker@gmail.com.

Whatever business you decide to development, one of the most important activities that will occupy a considerable amount of your time is attracting visitors to your blog or website. This is known as “driving traffic.” A site, no matter how attractive and interesting, or a blog, regardless of how well written, will fail to deliver any message you meant to convey if it does not attract visitors. Your pages and content will remain unread if people do not come to the site or blog.
One of the principal, and least expensive, ways to obtain traffic is through the use of traffic exchanges where you look at other people’s work and, in return, they look at your site or blog. You can join most traffic exchanges free, then upgrade to receive additional benefits after you have seen how effectively they are sending visitors to you. At the bottom of each page in this site is a link to one of the five traffic exchanges that I use the most. Each of them delivers the traffic promised for the surfing I do. I will add the links to more of the two dozen traffic exchanges that I use regularly in the next issue of Adventures On A Couch.
To get the most benefit from your traffic exchange promotions you need to use splash pages instead of the direct affiliate links that present a long sales page. This is because you only have a few seconds (from ten to about thirty seconds, depending on which exchange you’re using) to grab the attention of the viewer and make them curious enough to click over to the site your want them to visit. Splash pages have been proven to be very effective at driving traffic because it contains a short, powerful message to get the surfer’s attention before they move on in the surfing cycle.
To learn just how easy it can be to design splash pages, visit the site below. I use them and have the pages I designed there on more than twenty traffic exchanges.
